North American Tier Point Runs - 2024
I have been asked to start a thread to post and discuss BA Tier Point runs within North America since there are actually quite a few available at the moment. The Master Thread will continue, but you can post and discuss TP runs tailored to those of us in North America here. We'll see how this thread evolves and goes!
British Airways (BA) is a member of the oneworld alliance. At the moment American Airlines (AA) and Alaska Airlines (AS) are the two oneworld airlines operating within North America, however British Airways does operate several fifth freedom flights around the Caribbean -
If Alaska completes their merger with Hawaiian, then Hawaiian is expected to join the oneworld alliance.
Be aware that many of American Airlines' domestic first fares are NDC (New Distribution Capability) fares and can't be found in a GDS which means they won't appear on ITA Matrix or ExpertFlyer. You'll have to search aa.com or Google Flights to find a working trip. If you are going to post a complex trip, a link to Google Flights or a screenshot from the airline website might be helpful.
Also, Domestic First or "First" actually uses Business Class fare codes (J/C/D/I/R), so those flights will credit to BA as "Business", not "First". However if you fly Transcontinental First on the A321T or 777-300ER that will credit as First Class (fare codes A or F).
Transcontinental First is operated on the following routes -
LAX-JFK, SFO-JFK, SNA-JFK, LAX-BOS, LAX-MIA
More Information - https://www.aa.com/i18n/travel-info/...ontinental.jsp
If you are looking for a suggestion on where to start looking for TP runs, the West Coast of the US / Canada or Hawaii to the Caribbean, US Transcontinental Flights, and West Coast / New England / YYZ / YUL / YHZ to Northern South America (Colombia, Ecuador, Peru) are a good start.
- Roundtrip flights and open-jaw itineraries should originate and terminate in North America
- We'll say the entire Caribbean is North America despite Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Trinidad & Tobago sitting on the South American continental shelf since many of the TP runs terminate / originate in the Caribbean
- One-Way flights should originate or terminate in North America
- Many of the trips discussed will likely be in business / first since that generally yields the lowest cost per tier point, but you can discuss flights in any class of service
British Airways (BA) is a member of the oneworld alliance. At the moment American Airlines (AA) and Alaska Airlines (AS) are the two oneworld airlines operating within North America, however British Airways does operate several fifth freedom flights around the Caribbean -
- Nassau (NAS) to Grand Cayman (GCM)
- Nassau (NAS) to Providenciales (PLS)
- Antigua (ANU) to Aruba (AUA)
- Antigua (ANU) to St Kitts (SKB)
- Saint Lucia (UVF) to Grenada (GND)
- Saint Lucia (UVF) to Tobago (TAB)
- Saint Lucia (UVF) to Georgetown (GEO)

Chiming in on the praise of your great work. Not only impressed with your posting of multiple premium fare deals, but also for helping readers with the calculations on the outcome in the "currency' for respective airlines.
Your presence in the BA forum will be appreciated.

What a great idea, thank you.
I have been trying to find something from the West Coast, ideally PHX for the 14th and or 15th of May, but I have not found anything worthwhile. I suspect it is because I left it so late to look, Any suggestions? Able to travel 13 to 15th of May, Thanks.

Pre-Covid AA had a good fare ($800 in J!) LAX-PHL-SJU return that netted 360 TPs!
Probably depressing to price that now but I am a masochist so I will. Shocking - it's
only gone up to $1185. I expected something like $1600. As I recall AA has good fares
CLT-LAX which is a 140TP route in J.
Wow, LAX-CLT is $1979 return! Much cheaper to go to SJU for 80 more TPs!
