Curious about flight nunber

I've read that the lower the flight number, the prestigious the route/service is. So was just curious about BA 35, service to Chennai, India. Anyone knows how this service got a lower number, lowest of all flights to India?

This is definitely not the case on BA once you get beyond number 4.

I think it was because we used to operate a flight to Singapore via Chennai and the Asian city flight number remains.

Why do you think they are “crappy”?

I think they all have four digits, rather than three, or two.

That makes sense. But Singapore is an Asian city as well. Perhaps you meant to say that the flight number was retained by the service to the first stop.

The Chennai flight kept the flight number when Singapore was dropped from this flight.
